Vision, Mission, and Core Values
The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. That is St. Paul's mission.
God calls St. Paul Church to be An Exceedingly Great Church (Ezekiel 37:1-14). That vision is grounded in four truths:
An Exceedingly Great Church is Unified for God's Glory.
An Exceedingly Great Church is Committed to God's Word.
An Exceedingly Great Church is Empowered by God's Spirit.
An Exceedingly Great Church is Involved in God's Work.
Our Core Values guide our decision making.
(1) God is the center of all we do.
Through scripture and prayer, we place God at the center of our lives and our church. It is His will we seek to fulfill.
(2) Dynamic worship is mandatory.
Worship is an experience. The form that worship takes (contemporary or traditional) is not as important as the purpose: to experience the presence of God through praise and adoration. Our worship is alive.
(3) Prayer is our power.
We depend on God through prayer. Prayer is not telling God what to do. Prayer is bending ourselves to God's will. We pray about everything and trust God's guidance through prayer.
(4) Accountability is required.
We are responsible to God and each other. So we fulfill our vows of membership by supporting our church with our time, talents, money, prayers, and service.
(5) Communication is essential.
We keep our membership informed weekly through bulletin announcements and quarterly through our newsletter that is mailed to each home. The story of what God is doing at St. Paul is worth telling.
